Raised on the rainy edges of Vancouver’s coastline and shaped by travels through New Orleans and Nashville, Steph Wall’s music blurs the line between genres but cuts straight to the heart. With roots in jazz, soul, alt-pop, and soft psychedelia, Wall’s songs are emotionally driven, blending vivid textures with candid storytelling. She has since collaborated with artists across genres, steadily building a catalogue that resists easy categorization and feels both deeply personal and invitingly expansive.

Her upcoming EP, TANG! (Fall 2025), captures this spirit in full colour. The project leans into playful, genre-fusing sounds while exploring the tensions of connection, self-trust, and desire. The latest single, “Start Your Engines,” channels the flirtatious energy of early-2000s pop-R&B, asking what it means to move toward, or away from, uncertain love. As Steph questions her love interest’s intentions, the track becomes a metaphorical crossroads. Should she slide into the passenger seat, or walk away before the ride begins? “Start Your Engines” invites listeners to ponder the same: Will you keep the engine running, or is it time to hit the road?

Wall’s most recent LP, “My Angels” (June 2024), was described by Exclaim! as “defying categorization”. It showcases Wall’s ability to seamlessly blend genres while providing an intimate look into Wall’s life. Wall also tours provincially and often performs locally in Vancouver, opening for touring artists like Odie Leigh.

About “Start Your Engines”

“Start Your Engines” is a playful, genre-blending track that fuses smooth R&B with bright pop sensibilities. It marks the third and final single from Wall ahead of her EP “TANG!” (August 2025). Channelling the spirit of early 2000s icons like Nelly Furtado, this song captures the flirtatious tension of romantic uncertainty. As Steph questions her love interest’s intentions, the track becomes a metaphorical crossroads. Should she slide into the passenger seat, or walk away before the ride begins? “Start Your Engines” invites listeners to ponder the same: Will you keep the engine running, or is it time to hit the road?
